Could you imagine Ward Cleaver working from home to be with the kids? According to the Work and Family Institute's new study, men no longer want just a successful career; they want a good home life, too. Yet, many find the demand of trying to balance these areas seems to ironically add even more stress to these very same parts of life. Unlike thirty years ago, men are actively taking a much bigger role in the raising of their families. In fact, it's not even unheard of anymore for men to break down the walls of convention and take on the stay at home position women have dominated for years.

But then, with the economy taking a turn, there are presently more stay-at-home dads regardless of whether they want to be or not. Combine this with the need for more income and you can see why stay-at-home dads are a growing segment that are finding great success working from home. One of the chief benefits of working from home is that it provides the flexibility to handle household demands while bringing in an income. Even further, that income can be full or part time and it can consist of anything from a work from home customer service job to freelance writing

According to the study, men who worked traditional jobs with long hours (approximately fifty or more) reported having the most trouble trying to balance their work and home life. As many stay-at-home moms have figured out over the last several years, working from home with an online job can help to quell many of the outstanding issues that come with trying to make ends meet. They are a group that has also seen firsthand the financial benefits of working from home when the cost of childcare and daily commutes drops to little or nothing. Plus, those who work from home are more likely to look forward to their day and feel more optimistic about their future.

With the change in attitude towards work and family, there are a good number of men likely to be found working from home in the future; especially as technology continues to evolve. While women are certainly making their mark in the work from home business arena, men tend to be more candid when it comes to aiming for what they want. The times, they are a-changin'. And if you can't imagine Ward Cleaver working from home, don't worry. He probably would have broken down after the first day of trying to vacuum in pearls and high heels anyway.
