Avoiding the Data Entry Work from Home Scam

If you've been looking to make money online, you've probably already been assailed by the data entry work from home option.  Of all the work from home opportunities, this one is that is pushed the most and- thanks to scammers- has the worst reputation.  Data entry is an umbrella term. There are actually four classifications to data entry.

·         Traditional data entry- pertains to clerical and office assistant type work
·         Company Research- pertains to working with survey and focus group data
·         Outsourced data entry- pertains to promoting established websites
·         Internet Marketing data entry- promoting one's own online business

In essence, data entry work from home jobs are a kind of a typing job. And since most people use a computer these days and can type, this can be a very attractive idea for making money from home.
The problem that most people find with the data entry work from home option is that it can sometimes be very difficult to find this type of employment with a legitimate company. That isn't to say they aren't out there. What is means is that what online data jobs are out there get snapped up very quickly. Plus, doing data entry work from home is often more than just a typing job. In some instances, companies that offer this type of work from home employment use different programs for data entry and need workers who are proficient in them. While some are willing to train, one is more likely to land a position if he or she has previous data entry experience.

The other problem that has tarnished the data entry work from home option is the number of online data entry scams that saturate the internet. These often entail needing no previous experience in data entry and scammers insisting you can make thousands per week just from typing out online ads. The key to this data entry work from home is they want you to pay forty to fifty dollars or more for the honor of doing so. The number one rule of working online is you never pay someone for the opportunity to work. If someone is offering a data entry work from home opportunity but wants you to pay for a list to see these opportunities, it's a scam. And more than likely, once you pay using a credit card the scammer will find a way to keep charging your card every month until you finally cancel the thing to make them stop. This is a shame because there are actually those that do quite well with their data entry work from home jobs.

Nonetheless, if you have previous experience in data entry or with professional typing, there is no reason you should not look into an online data entry job. The rule of thumb is to be careful, research all companies before applying for a position and to never pay for the opportunity to work. With the right mindset, you are bound to find the data entry work from home position you want.

Work from Home Data Entry is Here to Stay

Anyone who has looked into earning money online has likely found offers for work from home data entry positions. That sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? What could be easier than entering data? However, the question of what data entry consists of exactly often lingers in the back of one’s mind. The truth is there is no one definition for this type of job. It largely depends on who the work is coming from. Data entry can include anything from entering names, numbers and addresses into a databank to putting information in a specific order on spreadsheets. While some data entry jobs require experience in order to ensure complete accuracy of a project, others can be much more lax and will sometimes offer a quick, albeit rudimentary, training.

Besides hiding under a rock, there is no way to miss that everyday life is now a constant data stream that must be put in order and indexed. There is so much data in fact that it is the main reason why work from home data jobs are so plentiful. And it is also a reason why companies tend to hire those looking for work from home opportunities. It is simply much too expensive to hire all the employees a company would need, what with extending benefits and other related expenses, to process such neverending information. It is much easier and cost effective to hire freelance workers or subcontract data entry work to individuals outside of the workplace.

Those who are self-disciplined, have good typing skills and who have a keen eye for detail are among the best candidates for work from home data entry positions. Obviously, a computer is a must; however, program requirements will understandably vary depending on what type of data entry services are being provided. While some jobs may only require that a simple form be filled in with certain information, others may require an individual to know medical transcription or how to read a spreadsheet using a very specific computer program. This can make those with actual computer programmer training not only more attractive but invaluable to a company. With data entry jobs, pay has been known to be as much as 15 dollars an hour; but this can largely depend on experience.

Many times data entry jobs start out as part time options that, as a person gets better and more skilled, can turn into full time incomes. This can mean no more slogging through long commutes, no more getting up an hour or two early just to primp and put on makeup and, best of all, no more pain in the butt coworkers. But still, even working this type of job as a part time or even a second job option can be a good way to make sure there is always a little bit of cushion in the bank at the end of the month. With more and more companies outsourcing their workloads, the opportunities for finding good work from home data entry positions grows more and more plentiful every day.
